At the field, or edge level, data is collected by industrial computers, e.g. by gateways, which process, filter, analyze and act on these data in real-time right at the device.

Edge, fog and cloud applications demand increasing computing power. The interfaces to sensors or machines often require non-standard solutions. Especially in smaller machines, space is limited or restricted in some dimension and need a special solution.

Today, the connection from the sensor device to the embedded cloud takes place via real-time data communication, on sensor and edge level - for example Industrial Ethernet or fieldbuses - and gateways , which provide the transformation of real time data into the informational area.

After his studies of mechanical engineering with a specialization in material flow and logistics at the Technical University Dortmund, Mr. Dautzenberg spent several years as a research assistant at the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics, Dortmund, where he carried out and managed projects for the optimization of logistical processes and structures in well-known companies in German industry. Afterwards, Mr. Dautzenberg held various management positions in the area of operations at an internationally active logistics service provider and a world-leading medical device manufacturer before joining Kontron Europe GmbH, where his last position as VP Operations included i.a. responsibility for purchasing, supply chain management and production, before being appointed Managing Director.
